Taupo, New Zealand Contact Energy Full time

**Company Description** Te Tākinatanga | Our Story**

At Contact, we believe home is the most important place in the world. It's all part of our vision to leave Aotearoa better than we found it. We’re a power, broadband and mobile company, but we’re so much more than that. We are transforming the ways we mahi, and how Aotearoa is powered, leading the charge on renewable energy and digitising customer journeys in ways not yet seen here. A team of 1000+ from all walks of life who love what we do, look out for each other, and learn from one another every day, we’re stoked to be guided by our tikanga: we touch lives to make life better.
**Job Description** Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**

As a Generation Technician you'll conduct and manage electrical maintenance throughout our geothermal Wairakei plant. Your main focus will be to support the reliable, safe and flexible operation of Contact’s essential assets. Safety is paramount and you'll need to ensure we operate to the highest of standards.

Here's a snapshot of some of the work you will be responsible for;
- Perform maintenance work and complex tasks such as time-based overhauls, replacements, technical repairs, calibrations, and inspections
- Implement RCM (Reliability Centred Maintenance) activities to improve Predictive and Preventive Maintenance practices
- Monitor plant condition, identify and report on defective plant and equipment, undertake preventive measures, and rectify problems where required
- Ensure work and activities adhere to environmental consents and are within station and company environmental guidelines and procedures
- Maintain knowledge of and fully comply with all industry safety rules, codes of practice, regulations and environmental consents.

You will need to be open to on call work because a component of this role requires you to participate in a call-out roster to provide 24 hour coverage for operational and maintenance requirements.
**Qualifications** Tā mātou e kimi nei? - What are we looking for?**

You’re a team player who can quickly find common ground with others and work together to solve problems. Culture fit is just as big for us as the technical side - you are often seen as personable, honest and your positivity goes a long way. You’re a problem-solving pro who uses rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems and looks at things from all angles.

You will be known for your communication skills and are able to effectively explain complex issues to people who may not have a technical background. You’re a relaxed person who listens attentively, is easy to chat with over a cuppa and deals well with stressful situations. You can effectively manage diverse relationships and are always open to other’s ideas. You own up to mistakes and are known for being a team player.

Here are some of the skills and experience we’d love to see;
- EWRB Electrical Registration, Relevant National Diploma/NZCE, Trade Certificate, or equivalent qualification in a specialist Electrical maintenance discipline, with sound experience in maintenance of power generation plant and auxiliary electrical equipment
- Ability to clearly communicate information to colleagues and other teams
- Exposure to systematic maintenance strategies and experience in condition monitoring
- Experience with equipment/plant operation and/or maintenance in a power generation or heavy industrial process environment.

**Additional Information**
Contact is not a place you’ll stagnate. We are growing and offer superb learning and development opportunities along with a bunch of other perks like free health insurance cover, better-than-your-average leave, access to Contact Shares, a ‘Good to be Home’ annual payment toward your home set up & wellbeing, a trail-blazing parental leave policy, discounts on Contact Energy products_, _and more.
