**Mō te tūranga | About the role**
- Fixed term for 2 years. Full time. This role is an ideal mix of being based from our recently built Taupō office, and getting out in the field.
- Deliver the relevant zone/catchment plans focusing on soil conservation, water quality, biodiversity, flood protection, co-management and other relevant community outcomes identified for the zone.
- Oversee the financial management of the Upper Waikato and Taupō zones, including forecasting budget changes during each year.
- Contribute to long term and annual planning processes, budget preparation, forecasting and reporting.
- Providing key relationship management with iwi partners within the Upper Waikato and Taupō zones and reporting to iwi/advisory groups and Council’s Committees.
- Contribute where required to other groups or council work (e.g., Civil Defence) including flood event oversight.
**Mō te tangata | About you**
- Skilled at engagement with iwi and a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders and developing sound working relationships.
- Sound financial and project management experience
- Excellent interpersonaloral and written communication skills.
- Highly effective organisational skills including time management, prioritising, and forward planning skills.
- Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
- At least medium level skill in Word and Excel and data bases that support contract and project management
- Holds a current drivers’ licence.
**Mō ngā pūkenga | Qualifications and experience**
- A tertiary qualification relevant to catchment management and/or environmental/ecological management is preferred but other qualifications will be considered.
- A minimum of 10 years relevant experience, preferably longer.

- We support Waikato Regional Council’s mission by implementing policies for non-statutory methods of integrated catchment management. The policies can include biosecurity and natural heritage management, fostering sustainable use of land and catchments, and managing significant infrastructure assets (comprising flood protection, river management and catchment systems).
