**About the role - Atu mo te mahi**
Reporting into the GM Finance, this is a sole charge role, where you will be interacting with and be part of the Senior Leadership Team and other internal/external key stakeholders across the business.

As a Senior Payroll Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of all payroll related tasks in accordance with company procedures/policy aligned with the wider business and be involved in the management of payroll related projects.

You'll have demonstrated experience in a fast-paced environment, be the first point of contact for internal/external stakeholders, be an articulate communicator with a confident and professional personality. High work ethic and an ability to work independently and show a high level of initiative is key in this role.

**Key tasks and accountabilities**:

- Fortnightly/monthly payroll processing of salaried/waged staff
- Accurate processing of payroll related tasks
- Maintain a high degree of professionalism
- Receiving, acknowledging, and responding to all queries
- Ability to make sound judgments and resolve discrepancies and recalculations
- Composing and preparing correspondence/reporting
- Building and maintain positive, effective long-term relationships with all key stakeholders.
- End to end payroll including new starter, terminations, leave requests, etc
- Weekly/monthly/yearly reconciliations
- Adhering to/understanding NZ Holidays Act, policies, and procedures
- Assist and provide information to external auditors as requested

**About you - Pehea koe**
- Minimum 3yrs experience in payroll
- Relevant tertiary qualification
- Strong knowledge of NZ legislation as it relates to payroll (Employment Act, Holidays Act, Minimum Wage Act)
- Experience in Ascender Preceda or CHRIS21 or other large payroll systems
- Knowledge/Experience of ACC process
- Good problem-solving skills and report writing
- Excellent time management skills, with proven ability to set/handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Methodical and remains calm under pressure
- Strong attention to detail/computer literacy and accuracy
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential (written & verbal)
- Ability to work co-operatively and effectively as part of a team and autonomously
- Strong leadership skills
