**Field Service Technician**

**The Job**

An opportunity has arisen for a motivated and results driven individual to join our existing field service team in the capacity of Field Service Technician. This role will be based out of our Auckland branch and will report to the Field Service Supervisor. The primary objective of the role will be to conduct service and diagnostic activities across the entire Penske New Zealand product range predominantly within the Upper North Island area. This will include customers in the marine, rail, power gen and heavy equipment industries. This is a full time permanent position typically working 45 hours per week Monday to Friday. Some flexibility is required to work longer hours, along with some travel out of town. A competitive hourly rate and access to a tool of the trade vehicle during work hours form part of the package.

**The Field Service Technician will be responsible for**:

- Completing diverse field service work including the diagnosis, servicing and repair of a range of machinery and equipment within Auckland and Northland regions (there may be the requirement from time to time to travel between our NZ branches and within the Pacific region to complete jobs)
- Fault finding and rectifying all mechanical and electrical issues on our OEM product range
- Repairing, maintaining and servicing our OEM products
- Providing and communicating product assistance to a wide range of customers
- Completing job card and warranty paperwork as per company guidelines
- Assist with the ongoing development and training of other Penske technicians in order to extend their abilities
- Electrical fault finding systems, repairing and maintaining electrical repairs
- Reconditioning, overhauling, assembling and rebuilding diesel engines
- Corrective and planned maintenance on plant within the oil, mining and marine sectors

**About You**

In order to be successful in this role, you will offer:

- Trade Qualification - diesel mechanic / diesel fitter (Level 4 NZQF equivalent)
- A minimum of five years of experience within the heavy transport / plant and machinery / marine or industrial engine industries
- Sound knowledge and experience working with diesel engines; ideally MTU &Detroit, but Cummins and CAT product lines experience also relevant
- An ability to model safe operating practices and adhere to company safety guidelines and expectations
- An ability to understand and grasp technical product information and provide product resolution
- The confidence to develop outstanding relationships with a range of customers, and represent the Penske brand with high levels of professionalism
- A passionate, sociable and engaging personality
- An ability to think differently and be self-motivated to consistently deliver on customer service
- Resilience, determination and high standards of work
