As a Health & Safety Adviser, you'll be more than an expert; you'll be a positive force for change. Your role is crucial in improving how we manage health and safety risks, fostering leadership, and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our team. We're not just looking for someone with a H&S background; we're seeking a passionate coach and trainer who thrives on implementing sustainable change.
This role forms part of the on-site leadership team, who are progressive, trauma-informed, and safety-focused. Our exceptional leaders deeply care about their team's wellbeing, and consistently work at improving ways of working and culture.
As the H&S Advisor you'll report to the Regional Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager. You'll play a critical role within our tightly knit eight-person regional Health, Safety, and Wellbeing team, contributing to solving larger organisational challenges, and implementing large scale wellbeing and cultural change initiatives.
You will be based full-time, on-site at Northland Region Corrections Facility (NRCF). The site is nestled in the heart of Te Tai Tokerau on the whenua of Ngati Rangi. NRCF has been operating since its establishment in 2005 and is a temporary home for up to 489 men. NRCF is a site with a strong passion for Rehabilitation and Reintegration, as well as with a strong focus on arts, including whakairo. Established as a facility that seeks to transform the approach towards caring for prisoners via the Hokai Rangi strategy, and the Maori Pathways project. This project seeks to establish a strong kaupapa Maori approach to the work that NRCF undertakes, whilst ensuring a strong focus on risk management and staff safety.

To be eligible for this role you will need one of the following qualifications:
- NZ Certificate in Workplace Health and Safety Practice (Level 4)
- National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH)
- Graduate Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
