**About the team**

The Planning, Scheduling and Optimisation team is accountable for developing, tracking, and supporting the delivery of a 2+1 year rolling plan of grid works, including plan optimisation and change management.

Acting as the conduit between Grid Development (who identify the future needs of the National Grid over the long term) and Grid Delivery, the team supports the orderly and efficient transition of long-term asset strategies into action.

**About the opportunity**

The energy sector is developing at a rapid pace to support New Zealand's electrification objectives, and Transpower plays a critical role in this.

Building on our journey of continuous improvement, you'll become a key member of our South Island Regional Delivery Team to develop and maintain a deliverable rolling works plan for all work on the Grid over a 2-year time horizon.

Working closely with our contracted service providers, you'll be part of embedding new contracts and ensuring that work plans across all asset portfolios are optimised for efficiency and deliverability against constraints. This includes resource availability, outages, customer requirements, and landowner constraints.

You'll work in collaboration with Service Performance Managers, Service Delivery Managers, Project Managers, Outage Planners, and other supporting functions. By ensuring an efficient regional works schedule and coordination of maintenance and project work you'll enable the right work to be done at the right time to deliver improved service levels.

Over time, you can progress your career with us to move into Service Delivery Management, Project Management or Works Planning.

While we aim to attract an experienced Scheduler, this role may also suit a recent Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering Graduate who has a passion for data and wishes to explore a different avenue within the energy sector. You'll be joining an experienced and highly collaborative team who are invested in your learning and success.

**Your previous experience, CV, and cover letter will demonstrate**:

- Capability to work in a dynamic environment and effectively manage competing demands
- Well-developed communication (written and oral) and relationship management skills
- Capability to coordinate problem resolution with multiple groups and competing interests
- Excellent problem solving, decision making, and organisational skills
- Data management and interrogation ability

While not essential, one or more of the following is an advantage:

- Experience/exposure with planning and scheduling work programmes, maintenance planning, asset planning, or project support
- An understanding of industry level assets and their significance for service delivery and meeting target service levels
- Experience using Asset and Work Management software for the planning and scheduling of work
- Experience using criticality and optimisation frameworks to assess risk and prioritise activities
- Financial and performance reporting
