- Our Waste and Resources Management team works across a range of private sector industries and government agencies to deliver innovative solutions, including circular economy and resource efficiency strategies through to waste and recycling infrastructure due diligence, design, and procurement.
- We have an excellent career opportunity within our Waste and Resources Management team for a person with a science or engineering background to join our team with flexibility to be based in anyone of our 10 offices across New Zealand, with a preference for either Auckland or Wellington. You will work closely with other team members, including industry leading planners and scientists from 4Sight New Zealand who recently joined the SLR group, to ensure high-quality outcomes, practical waste and resource recovery solutions and environmental, social and governance (ESG) advisory services to our internal and external clients.Key Responsibilities

**Job tasks and responsibilities**
You will have an entrepreneurial mindset and have the ability to do the following:

- Lead the development of waste and resource management policies and strategies encompassing sustainability and ESG initiatives, such as circular economy, carbon-reduction, and technology solutions, including composting facilities, recycling technologies and energy from waste, for government and private sector clients;
- Support due diligence projects in the waste management and resource recovery sector through detailed research, analysis and reporting;
- Project manage medium to large projects to produce high quality advisory documentation (i.e., WMPs, strategies, feasibility studies and due diligence reports);
- Lead the development of proposals, identifying and converting opportunities drawing on your client relationships;
- Developing, facilitating and enhancing relationships between our internal and external clients and SLR team members; and
- Administrative and financial management tasks including budget preparation and providing accurate and timely responses to requests as required by project demands and timelines.

**Skills and experience**
- Bachelor’s Degree in science, natural resource management or engineering, specialising in civil, environmental, chemical, mechanical, or a related field.
- Knowledge of New Zealand environmental / waste related legislation and policies, standards and guidelines.
- 10+ years' practical experience in fields such as waste and resource management. sustainability, circular economy, bioenergy with significant demonstrated skills in the areas of data research / analysis and report writing.
- Knowledge and interest of global sustainability standards and frameworks, such as UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Global reporting Initiatives (GRI) and others is desirable.
- Excellent communication in all forms with a proven ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Strong computer skills, in particular MS Excel.
