Consultant Psychiatrist In Mhsop Inpatients
1 month ago
Consultant Psychiatrist in MHSOP Inpatients Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust The exciting opportunity has arisen for a consultant psychiatrist to work in the inpatient unit at Auckland Park Hospital, Bishop Auckland.
We would be pleased to hear from applicants interested in working less than full time or in a job share arrangement.
We would also be pleased to hear from candidates interested in split roles or special interests across the broad spectrum of Old Age Psychiatry, as there may be some flexibility in this role.
Main duties of the job The Clinical duties will be based on Ceddesfeld Ward.
You will provide clinical and medical leadership to the MDT and will lead the assessment and treatment of those patients on the ward.
The post holder will be expected to work with a well-established, cohesive, and enthusiastic MDT to maintain a high standard of clinical care for our patients.
The ward operates a report out every weekday morning, which is effectively a board round of all patients on the ward.
This helps the MDT review the progress and risks of every patient over the preceding 24 hours, provides an opportunity for the MDT to discuss treatment plans and allocate any tasks.
You are expected to attend wherever possible.
The post holder will be expected to have a familiarity with important relevant legislation affecting the care of older people with mental illness.
The post-holder is expected to be the Responsible Clinician for any patients on the ward and will undertake any such duties that are specified by the Mental Health Act.
The post-holder is expected to prioritize Mental Health Act Assessments for their own patients during working hours and be a qualified DOLS Mental Health Assessor for any patients on their personal caseload.
The Trust is eager to support the development of a special interest and this is negotiable either at the time of employment or at the Annual Job Plan Review meeting.
About us We are one of the largest specialist mental health and learning disabilities trusts in the country, with an annual income of £320m and a workforce of some 6,700 staff operating from around 100 sites in Durham, Teesside, North Yorkshire, and York and Selby.
We provide a range of inpatient and community services to 2 million people and also provide additional specialist services to other parts of Northern England.
We are a multi-award winning trust and are included within the Health Service Journal's Best 100 Places to Work.
The trust takes a positive and proactive approach to support staff in their personal development and has embedded the Talent Management approach within the Trust, with the vision of helping people to be as good as they can be, helping TEWV to do things better.
Psychiatrists are essential contributors to the majority of our mental health teams.
Service users expect and are justified to expect collaborative relationships with dedicated psychiatrists who work consistently as part of effective services.
Our medical staffing shortage puts strain on services and workforce wellbeing, and costs extend beyond the financial.
The Medical Directorate and Medical Development Team are striving to improve medical workforce recruitment and retention in a variety of ways, and the cornerstone of these efforts is The TEWV Charter for the Medical Workforce.
