Consultant Psychiatrist in MHSOP Inpatients Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust An exciting opportunity has arisen for a consultant psychiatrist to work in the inpatient unit at Auckland Park Hospital, Bishop Auckland.
We welcome applicants interested in working less than full time or in a job share arrangement.
We are also open to candidates interested in split roles or special interests across the broad spectrum of Old Age Psychiatry, as there may be some flexibility in this role.
Main Duties of the Job The clinical duties will be based on Ceddesfeld Ward.
You will provide clinical and medical leadership to the MDT and lead the assessment and treatment of patients on the ward.
The post holder will work with a well-established, cohesive, and enthusiastic MDT to maintain a high standard of clinical care for our patients.
The ward operates a report out every weekday morning, effectively a board round of all patients.
This helps the MDT review the progress and risks of every patient over the preceding 24 hours, discuss treatment plans, and allocate tasks.
You are expected to attend whenever possible.
The post holder will need to be familiar with relevant legislation affecting the care of older people with mental illness.
You will be the Responsible Clinician for patients on the ward and undertake duties specified by the Mental Health Act.
The post holder is expected to prioritize Mental Health Act Assessments for their own patients during working hours and be a qualified DOLS Mental Health Assessor for their personal caseload.
The Trust supports the development of a special interest, negotiable at the time of employment or during the Annual Job Plan Review meeting.

Person Specification Qualifications MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
Eligible for inclusion in the Specialist Register or within 6 months of gaining CCT.
Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.
Approved under S12 OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.
Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or management.
