The Regulatory Services Group has oversight of two large regulatory systems: Anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism, and Gambling, and one smaller regulatory system: Private Security Personnel. We are a responsive risk-based regulator that uses innovation and collaboration to maximise our impact to achieve outcomes for New Zealand communities.

The Senior Investigator role is responsible for conducting serious and complex gambling related investigations involving suspected offences against the Gambling Act 2003 and/or Crimes Act 1961. The role is also a part of the Investigations team that performs the functions of the Complaints, Investigation and Prosecution Unit (CIPU) relating to the investigation of security operators under the Private Personnel and Private Investigators Act 2010. We work collaboratively with business units in DIA and with external law enforcement and regulatory agencies.

As a Senior Investigator, you will appreciate that investigations are an important tool in achieving favourable outcomes for the community. You will have excellent relationship management skills that enable you to work with other investigators and regulators across the systems. As an investigator you will have proven professional skills, including:

  1. successful experience in managing complex investigations through to prosecution;
  2. superior communication skills, especially interviewing and relationship building;
  3. successful experience leading planning and execution of field operations such as search warrants;
  4. a strong understanding of regulatory theory and sound experience of regulatory practice;
  5. the ability to drive investigations to timely and appropriate outcomes.

You will demonstrate your understanding and application of best practice investigative methods.
