Te Whānau Tupu Ngātahi o Aotearoa - Playcentre Aotearoa is a well-known and loved Early Childhood organisation with over 80 years of supporting parents to take the lead in their children's learning through play. Playcentre operates 400 Playcentres throughout the country and has just over 700 staff members who are employed in various roles.

We're looking for a Payroll superstar with the know-how and a passion for ensuring our payroll is processed accurately and in a timely manner. In addition, you will be responsible for processing new hires, terminations, and variations to agreements, as well as ensuring schedules are maintained and annual leave, LWOP, etc. is recorded accurately. This role is based at our National Service Centre in central Porirua, close to the train station and the mall

This is a permanent position working 30 hours per week, beginning as soon as possible.

Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Ensure Payroll data remains up-to-date and is processed accurately and efficiently
  • Provide guidance and advice to staff
  • Answer queries from the payroll inbox
  • Monitor time logs and approvals within the correct pay cycle
  • Ensure mileage claims are accurately entered, approved, and processed in the correct pay cycle
  • Process payroll changes and system upgrades
  • Assist with filing returns for IRD.
About you:

This role will suit someone with experience in Payroll processing and administration, including a strong working knowledge of New Zealand Payroll related legislation.

To be considered, you must have:
  • Confidence and experience in problem-solving and working independently
  • Proven numerical and data entry skills, with a high standard of computer literacy
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to collaborate and support teammates
  • A positive, friendly, and helpful nature
  • A willingness to go the extra mile to resolve complex payroll queries
  • Experience processing payroll for a medium to large-sized organisation
Desired skills and experience:
  • Prior experience in a similar payroll position
  • Displays honesty, discretion, sensitivity, self-discipline, and resilience
  • Organised - excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Experience working across multiple payroll platforms (MYOB IMS Payroll, TimeFiler, Microsoft Dynamics Business Central is an advantage)
  • Proven ability to learn new systems and processes with ease
