About The Role

As a Health Care Assistant in Outpatients, you will be required to assist in the day-to-day maintenance of clinics. This involves setting up rooms and ensuring patient flow is efficiently run. You will be required to keep outpatients clean and a proficient understanding of Infection Control is required. You will be responsible for the ordering and monitoring of stock levels within the department. You will find you have direct patient contact when acting as a chaperone during a consult, or assisting with patient care alongside a Registered Nurse. You will be required to have a competent understanding of computer systems and a passion for patient-centred care.

The role encompasses working alongside other healthcare professionals in Outpatients with the goal to deliver a high standard of care to patients attending appointments from our Lakes community.

About the Team/Service/Location

Our current team of 15 Registered Nurses and 1 Healthcare Assistant are based in the Outpatient department of the Rotorua Hospital. Patients attend booked appointments across all medical and surgical services from orthopaedics to Gynaecology. We facilitate an environment that is fast-paced, friendly, clean and fully functioning to ensure patients receive their care in a timely manner.

About You

As a Health Care Assistant in Outpatients you should have:

  • The ability to work in a team environment
  • A competent level of computer knowledge
  • Experience in stock management and ordering
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient understanding of Infection Control is required
Salary range: $60,100 to 70,358 pro hours worked
