  • Are you a team player keen to make a difference in your community?

Mo Tatou - About us:

Presbyterian Support Central (PSC) is a not-for-profit organisation that has been around for over 100+ years. Our experience has created the opportunity to be innovative and at the top of our game when it comes to what we do.

Family Works is part of PSC providing a range of services to children and families including social work, counselling, life-skills and parenting courses, safety programmes, and mediation. At Family Works, we value compassion, dedication, and the drive to do right by the child.

Mo te Mahi - About the Role:

Family Works Whanganui is looking for a passionate and experienced Social Worker to join our small and dedicated team on a fixed-term basis until the end of November 2025. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to support children and adults through a wraparound service model, empowering whānau to heal and thrive.

You will provide holistic, trauma-informed support to individuals and families impacted by family violence in the community. Working closely with our team of counsellors, social workers, program facilitators, and community partners, you will deliver early intervention and longer-term support services that build resilience, restore safety, and strengthen whānau wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide social work support to children, individuals, and whānau experiencing family violence.
  • Complete assessments, develop goal-oriented plans, and review progress with clients.
  • Work collaboratively with internal team members and external agencies.
  • Maintain clear, timely, and accurate case notes and reporting.
  • Uphold a culturally responsive and strengths-based approach in all interactions.

Mo Koe - About you:

You will be a passionate person who can connect with children and their families. You will also:

  • A qualified and registered Social Worker with the SWRB (or working towards registration).
  • Experience working in family violence, child protection, or community support services.
  • Strong understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a commitment to working effectively with Māori.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and relationship-building skills.
  • A full NZ driver's licence as this is a community-based role.

What we offer:

  • A supportive and values-based workplace.
  • Opportunities for professional development and supervision.
  • Flexible work arrangements within a caring team.
  • The chance to be part of a meaningful cause, helping to create safe and thriving whānau.
  • Discounted Health insurance.
  • Free counselling for employees.
