Wellington, Wellington, New Zealand Pamu Farms of New Zealand Full time

Lead the charge in shaping Pāmu's groundbreaking natural capital balance sheet and drive sustainability into the heart of our financial future.

The Opportunity

This is a first-of-its-kind role at Pāmu, where you will be instrumental in preparing and shaping our natural capital balance sheet.

This is your chance to lead an innovative, groundbreaking initiative. By channelling your passion for sustainability, you'll play a pivotal role in helping Pāmu tell our sustainability story. As the person leading this initiative, you will have a direct impact on how natural capital is seamlessly integrated into our financial reporting and driving meaningful change for a sustainable future.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop and implement valuation methodologies for natural capital assets and liabilities, pioneering new approaches for how environmental factors are integrated into financial reports.
  • Work closely with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and the wider leadership team to drive this new initiative and ensure alignment with organisational goals.
  • Present to the Board and other key stakeholders, demonstrating your expertise and providing insights into the company's sustainability performance.
  • Collaborate with environmental scientists, the Data and Analytics team, and other stakeholders to gather, manage, and report natural capital data, ensuring transparency and accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant reporting standards and regulations related to natural asset accounting.
  • Provide training and support to the finance team on nature accounting practices and promote a culture of sustainability across the organisation.

Join this highly engaged and capable team where you'll have the freedom to operate, with plenty of room for innovation and personal growth.

This opportunity is for one year fixed-term.

About Us

Pāmu is the brand name for Landcorp Farming Limited. Pāmu stands for best practice in sustainable and safe farming, and for the unique provenance of New Zealand foods, nutrition products and fibre on global markets. We chose the Māori word 'Pāmu' for its literal meaning 'to farm' and also to reflect the Māori concept of guardianship of the environment.

About You

You are self-motivated, creative, with a deep interest in sustainability and a strong foundation in finance.

You'll be excited about the opportunity to help shape Pāmu's approach to natural capital accounting from the ground up, bringing new ideas and perspectives to the table. While a farming background would be useful, it is not essential—we value creativity and fresh thinking to approach challenges in innovative ways.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, environmental science, or a related field.
  • A Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification or equivalent (recently qualified or with some years of experience).
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in financial software and data analysis tools.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • A creative thinker who can develop innovative ways to integrate natural capital into financial reporting and tell Pāmu's sustainability story.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Knowledge of environmental science and natural resource management.
  • Experience in environmental accounting or sustainability reporting.
  • Proven track record of working in a finance team within a corporate environment.

Benefits

We offer a friendly, supportive and inclusive culture, a competitive salary package with additional benefits, including health and life insurance, up to 4% KiwiSaver matching, an extra day of leave over Christmas, and enhanced parental leave benefits, as well as ongoing training and development.

The Wellington office of Pāmu is located in the heart of Wellington's CBD, near Te Papa.

Applications close Sunday 23 March 2025. We will be interviewing applicants as they apply, so please don't wait.

For more details about the role, please email Steven McJorrow- Chief Financial Officer: mcjorrows@landcorp.co.nz.

Pāmu provides a safe workplace and the successful applicant will be required to pass a drug and alcohol test and undergo a criminal background check prior to being appointed.

Our values are core to who we are at Pāmu and the way that we all work together. We are Grounded, Genuine, Bold, and Shoulder-to-Shoulder.

Enriching our land, our people, and the future of food and fibre for Aotearoa New Zealand.
