ABOUT SPACE SYSTEMS AT ROCKET LAB:

Rocket Lab's Space Systems team is responsible for every satellite and satellite component made by Rocket Lab: from complete satellites destined for missions to the Moon and Mars, to the individual components and subsystems that make up a satellite like solar panels, flight software, reaction wheels and star trackers, separation systems, radios, and more. Our Space Systems team is made up of engineers, technicians, and designers who design, create, and put together our own satellites for missions across the commercial, government, and defence sectors, or who build and assemble satellite hardware and software that supports other satellite missions.

WHAT YOU'LL GET TO DO:

As a member of the Avionics Reaction Wheels Production team at Rocket Lab's site in Auckland, you will part of the team assembling high precision spacecraft components. To be successful in this role, you must possess a very high level of attention to detail and produce work to an exceptional standard.

Key aspects of the role include:

Reaction Wheel AssemblyOperation of assembly and test stationsAssembly of electrical componentsTest subassemblies and components using specific test equipmentReceive training on functional testing equipment, software driven tests and operating thermal chambers.Use common hand tools - screwdrivers, pliers, spanners. Use specialist tools and equipment: torque drivers, milliohmeter, multimeter, DC power supply etc.YOU'LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS:Relevant industry experience in rote production line assemblyHave a working understanding of standard industry ESD policyStrong eye for and attention to detailExcellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenA high work ethic, always seeking more responsibilityTHESE SKILLS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE:Trade qualification - mechanical, electronics, mechatronics or similar industry experienceThe ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as autonomouslyAble to read, understand and follow manufacturing instructions and drawingsTakes initiative and remains calm under pressureComputer literate, and comfortable using smartphones and tabletsNOTE: This role is full-time from Monday to Thursday and will be joining our afternoon/night shift team. (1:30pm - 12:00am)
