Our legal team support all areas of Z's business and ensure that our enterprise legal risks are appropriately managed.

They enable and empower Z's business outcomes within the law and protect Z's licence to operate and keep our people safe.


There are some exciting changes within our Legal team creating multiple opportunities One of our team is heading off on travel adventures and we are also growing the team.

We are looking for both Rōia Legal Counsel as well as Rōia Matua Senior Legal Counsel to join us and support Z's goal of powering better journeys, today and tomorrow.


This vacancy is for our Rōia Legal Counsel opportunities, in this role you will enable the effective and integrated delivery of legal services to Z and to ensure enterprise legal risks are appropriately managed across the business to support Z's strategy and ultimate delivery of our extraordinary outcomes.


You will have the opportunity to

  • Deliver legal advice and support which is commercial, clear, pragmatic and fit for purpose across all investment streams, to manage risks across our business
  • Participate in and guide squads as legal support for key strategic outcomes
  • Review, draft and negotiate a wide variety of arrangements and support contract and contractor management
  • Build knowledge and capability across the business including written and verbal training, 'how to' guides, templates and other tools for self help
  • Be part of the broader Ampol group and a valued member of the Z legal whānau
  • Provide support for dispute resolution processes, including any litigation or arbitration
  • How and why we do things is as important as what we do at Z; your advice will be informed by our Values, Stands and policies and you will act as an advocate for the Z Why (what's important to us) and also Z How (our operating model)
  • Stay well informed across regulatory and statutory reform identifying risks and opportunities for Z

Qualifications:

What you'll bring to Z

  • An admitted Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand with 46 years PQE
  • Generalist experience, you may have worked across commercial, competition, company, privacy, energy, property and/or consumer law
  • The ability to build strong relationships across the business and communicate legal advice to a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience of adding value, finding innovative ways to make things better and improving the process of giving and receiving advice
  • Experience in drafting and negotiating commercial arrangements and operating in a fastpaced, highvolume work environment

The base salary range for this role is $129,200 to $152,000 per annum, plus 15% STI based on company performance, a 5% KiwiSaver employer contribution and health insurance through Southern Cross.
