These matters include judicial review of government actions, constitutional questions including te Tiriti/Treaty of Waitangi issues, the enforcement of criminal law and the protection of revenue.

We are looking to appoint a lawyer with 6+ years PQE into our Treaty team, which deals with issues with a Māori/Crown dimension, particularly in the context of te Tiriti o Waitangi/the Treaty of Waitangi.
- working at the interface of government and te ao Māori;- advice work, litigation, mediation and negotiation for the Crown;

Public sector experience is desirable but not essential.

This role is Wellington based and located next to Wellington bus and train station.
We are a flexible organisation, so we'd be happy to chat about what flexible working would look like for you and how we can support that.
Remuneration and benefitsThe starting salary range for this role is $111,247 to $173,11- with further room to progress. The appointing salary will be based on skills and experience.
In addition, you will also receive additional benefits such as an annual wellness payment, funding for professional memberships and study, five weeks annual leave plus three additional leave days (Crown Law days) and opportunities for development and growth across Crown Law.
To be considered for a position at Crown Law you must have a legal right to live and work in New Zealand and are required to complete a Ministry of Justice Criminal Records check.
You must hold a current practising certificate issued by the New Zealand Law Society or be able to obtain one before or soon after starting at Crown Law.
