Mō te tūnga | About the role

The Partnerships and Harm Prevention Team supports implementation of cross-agency work programmes aimed at combating organised crime and building community resilience.

The purpose of this team is to leverage our partnership and prevention opportunities across the sector in order to make New Zealand the hardest place in the world for organised criminals to do business.

The role of senior advisor is crucial in driving delivery of the Resilience to Organised Crime in Communities (ROCC) Work Programme, which is an innovative multi-agency approach combining social intervention and enforcement activity to simultaneously address the drivers and impacts of organised crime.

Central to the approach is partnering with iwi and communities to co-design local responses.

This role presents an exciting opportunity for anyone with a keen interest in organised crime and is passionate about driving crime prevention outcomes for all New Zealanders.

While the team is housed at Police, you will work on behalf of all partner agencies involved in developing and implementing ROCC.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Influence and engage internal and external stakeholders.
  • Build and foster partnerships crosssector, and with iwi and community.
  • Provide informed advice and strategic guidance to programme managers, leads, and partners.
  • Support, develop & coordinate and implementation of the ROCC work programme with regional stakeholders.
  • Promote regional work programmes with the centre and ROCC secretariate
He aha taau e kawe mai | What you'll bring

Whilst we are looking for skills, knowledge and experience relevant to the role, we also place high importance on your state of mind, the alignment of your values with ours, your ability to contribute to and build high performing teams, and the way that you lead yourself or others.

Skills:

  • A positive mindset, strong initiative, and proven ability to influence across a range of stakeholders.
  • Present complex issues (written or verbal) clearly to a range of audiences.
  • Identify barriers to success and generate solutions.
  • Manage competing demands and high workload at times.
Knowledge

  • Working understanding of the deployment model, and tasking and coordination processes
  • Knowledge of the organised crime or investigations would be advantageous
  • Machinery of government (advantageous, not essential)
Experience

  • Given the highly collaborative nature of the role, we are looking for someone with exceptional relationship building skills and the ability to build, foster and encourage work across public and private sector
  • Development and implementation of plans, projects or initiatives
  • Cultural competence, particularly within Te Ao Māori and Pasifika contexts, and an ability to lead community engagement
  • Good understanding of the following strategies (advantageous, not essential)
  • Resilience to Organised Crime and Our Communities (ROCC)
  • Te Huringa O Te Tai
  • Organised Crime & Our Response
  • The Transnational Organised Crime Strategy (TNOC)

This role presents an exciting opportunity for anyone with a keen interest, relevant experience in the organised crime space and those who are passionate about reducing the social harms of organised crime and driving crime prevention outcomes for all New Zealanders.

Please note this position will report to Manager: Planning and Programme Support (as opposed to Manager, Partnerships and Harm Prevention as in the PD).
- * Registered interest via the link or enrolment in the CEP leadership programme at the advertised level

This role is set at Individual Contributor level, this means your key purpose is "to deliver or enable others to deliver Our Business".
