He kōrero mō mātou | About Us

EaseUp is a community-based youth mental health and addictions service providing brief therapeutic interventions for rangatahi aged and their whānau.

Our expansion means we are currently operating in Te Awamutu, Tokoroa, Te Kuiti, and Taumarunui.

EaseUp is made up of Kaiwhakamahereora Waranga, Kaiwhakamahereora Hinengaro, and Te Hunga Tuarā Tautoko ā-aropā who work in partnership with rangatahi.

The service provides holistic support to fit the needs of rangatahi and is delivered where the rangatahi feels most comfortable e.g.

whare, papa rēhia etc.

The service works within the principles of abstinence and harm reduction and in a holistic manner, recognising the multi-faceted problems that co-exist with AOD addiction and mental health.

He kōrero mō te tūranga | The Role

Based in
Te Awamutu,
Tokoroa,
Te Kuiti, or
Taumarunui, you will be responsible for providing peer support to young people presenting with issues around mental health and addictions.

We are looking for
(full or part-time) kaimahi with personal lived experience who are wanting to share their journey in recovery to help support and inspire others.

You will be supporting people experiencing mental distress to move forward with their recovery within a supportive, compassionate, relaxed, peer led service in collaboration with their clinical teams.

He kōrero mōu | About You

You'll bring your own knowledge and experience of mental health and/or addiction to the role, and we ask that you tell us about your journey through your CV and in person.

Being able to demonstrate assertiveness, accountability and compassion for people and encourage them to change is integral to this role.

Sometimes faced with challenging behaviour you'll utilise your calmness to engage and empathise with whānau and be quick to think on your feet with how to deal with situations when whānau become unwell and are in need of support.

You will need to be flexible and happy to pick up "hands on" duties.

To be successful in this role, it's preferable that you have experience in a similar role.

A Level 4 in Health & Disability (or higher) qualification is desirable, however; if you're passionate about our mahi and you're willing to work towards a qualification we'll support you as much as we can. You'll be culturally respectful and non-judgmental - a strong understanding of Māori and Pasifika cultures is preferred.

Ko tā mātou mahi | We offer

Not only will you be part of an amazing whanau here at EaseUp, but you will also have an experienced, humorous, supportive service manager, who is dedicated to helping you grow.

With Emerge being a national organisation this is easily accomplished.

  • Work life balance as our EaseUp services typically operate between Monday
  • Friday.
  • Additional paid leave allowances including, 3 wellbeing days, 510 days study leave and cultural leave days
  • Wellbeing subsidies and access to the use of our other services such as counselling, budgeting, and mental health workshops
