Land Based Training is a trusted, innovative and successful Private Training Establishment, recently being awarded Category 1 provider with NZQA. With our head office in Whanganui, we deliver a range of Vocational and Foundation level education programmes throughout Aotearoa, from the Far North to the Deep South.

This is a new role (fixed term for 2 years with the opportunity to extend) which you will be involved in creating new processes for and rolling out across the many sites we deliver learning from. There would be a requirement for frequent travel across the motu to achieve this, and will be a regular part of your mahi.

Reporting to the General Manager, this position plays a pivotal role in the implementation, tracking and maintenance of educational best practice among Land Based Training academic and support kaiako & tutors. You will provide opportunities for learning and growth for each tutors' role and work collaboratively with all stakeholders to strengthen educational outcomes.

Maintaining key relationships including with Iwi & hapu, as well as providing strategic input, critical to our ongoing success.

This is a position for an experienced tertiary educational mentor who is self-driven, innovative, a great communicator, and happy to work alone as well as work as part of our management team.

We are looking for a talented individual to extend the educational support we offer to our kaiako and their delivery sites, with the diverse learners we work alongside.

Key accountabilities of the role include:

  • Support individual kaiako & tutors with the focus of continuous improvement.
  • Offer face to face mentorship in the educational space for kaiako/tutors (train the trainer model)
  • Conduct interactions and relationship building through a te āo Māori lens, honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the importance of biculturalism in education in Aotearoa.
  • Facilitate opportunities for Professional Development for all kaiako & tutors.
  • Promote a healthy relationship with education for learners, through by supporting kaiako/tutor.
  • Demonstrate best practice teaching strategies, to enhance the learners' experience.
  • Support the induction of new tutors.
