As a member of the Te Whatu Ora Health NZ Waitaha
Canterbury Bioengineering Group,
your role is to assist in the design, development,
construction and maintenance of special medical and scientific instruments and
devices for clinical departments within Canterbury health system. Here at Bioengineering, we - re proud of our leading edge when it comes to
innovative solutions and collaboration with our clinical colleagues. We bring
our skills in mechanical, software and electronic engineering to the clinical
setting.
We - re looking for a Biomedical Engineer with a mechanical or
mechatronics engineering background to join our team on a permanent full time
(40hr per week) basis. The days and hours associated with this position are
Monday - Friday, ideally 8am - 4.30pm but start and end times are flexible.
This is an exciting position offering significant variety and the opportunity
unconventional ways - from creating a 3D printed model, to assisting a surgeon
or helping an injured patient or clinician find a new way of working. If you
have proven skill and the ability to think outside the square, we would love to
hear from you
In this role you may be required to travel to our other Waitaha Canterbury
campuses or carry out home visits.

You will be responsible for:

  • Meeting with
customers, interpreting and documenting their requirements and bringing
engineering analysis to the table;

  • Working collaboratively
in a team to convert clinical problems into physical solutions;

  • Using engineering and
mathematical analysis to support clinical research;

  • Contributing to the 3D
printing of surgical bio-models (training will be provided).Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

This role requires the following:

Essential

  • Be experienced in a broad range of mechanical
engineering analysis and design

  • Have demonstrable ability to lead projects
from inception to completion in a safety critical environment;

  • Have experience with computer aided design
(we use Autodesk Inventor)

  • Have ability and willingness to learn and
develop to grow yourself and the position

  • Be enthusiastic, dedicated and interested in
the area of work
