The Senior Analyst - Investment role sits within the Investment Portfolio Management Office, Te Pou Hanganga, Matihiko | Infrastructure & Digital.

The Senior Analyst - Investment will lead the implementation of the new governance structure at the Takiwā level, including providing Governance Advisory to the three Takiwā level governance board and management group.


This is an ideal role for an organised and effective Senior Analyst who has strong relationship building and advisory skills, or an Analyst who is looking to step into a role with greater responsibility.

You will work as part of a fast-paced, solutions-focussed team that prioritises robust, defendable investment decisions that will deliver quality outcomes for learners and the sector.


It is important that the Senior Analyst sees themselves as a team player who backs themselves and others to succeed.

They will role model good governance processes and investment approaches and work to increase governance and investment capability across the business.

Mōhou ake | About you


You will be an aspiring leader, have exceptional relationship skills and the proven ability to write clear, unambiguous, robust advice.

You will see the bigger picture and understand how individual projects fit within wider programmes and be able to provide programme level advice.


You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori.

You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.


You will also demonstrate:

  • Strong analytical and writing skills
  • Ability to work with ambiguity and articulate potential solutions strengths and challenges
  • Strong organisational skills and an excellent ability to communicate and build trust
  • Mentoring and coaching of staff in the team
  • Determination to get the job done

At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whanau.

To better deliver on this, we are currently undergoing an organisational design change. The transition phase to improve the way we deliver our purpose will be complete in 2023.
