About this role:

The Senior Analyst – Analytics, Monitoring and Evaluation works closely with the Principal Analysts. This role provides high quality data and analytics to build the evidence base to better understand the current wellbeing of ethnic communities and what works to improve outcomes. The role will be responsible for collaborating with other members of the team, colleagues across the Ministry and other agencies to share complex data; turning this into clear, meaningful, and easy to understand evidence.

Responsibility for the role will include using appropriate data, analytics and or research methodologies to support delivery of the delivering to the Ministry's work programme and priorities to build and strengthen the Ministry's evidence base. Ultimately, the role will deliver analytical outputs to positively influence and inform policy analysis primarily undertaken by the Ministry's Government Relations and Advisory team. It will also inform policy development undertaken by other public sector agencies.

Senior Analyst

As the ideal candidate for this role, you will have:

  • 4+ years' experience in data analysis, research and/or monitoring and evaluation.
  • The ability to proactively identify areas for analytical deep dives, provide analytical insights and advice to internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience in using either sound analytical, research, evaluation and mixed methods in developing robust evidence, ideally with population groups.
  • Demonstrated experience in identify evidence gaps and finding innovative solutions to address these.
  • Experience in collaborating with others to communicate and interpret technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Ideally, experience working with integrated data infrastructure (IDI), PowerBI and/or other relevant analytical platforms and tools.
  • Experience in producing high quality written work in either a professional or academic context.
  • An eye for accuracy and detail along with good problem-solving skills.
  • Represent the Ministry at cross government subject matter expert/technical data and analytics groups such as the IDI expert users' group.
  • Ability to work under pressure, juggle multiple deliverables, and deliver to deadlines.
