Our Parliamentary Security Officers are the friendly faces welcoming you onto the Parliamentary Precinct and play an integral role within Parliament.

Our Security Group is collectively responsible for providing 24 hours per day, 7 days per week security services to members of Parliament, staff, contractors, stakeholders, visitors, and customers who work within and visit New Zealand's Parliament.

The Security Group strive to be known for their professionalism and to make Parliament an open, accessible, efficient, safe, and secure place.

Mo te tunga - About the role

We have four full-time permanent positions to fill, working Monday to Friday, so no weekend work In this role, you'll be tasked with providing pro-active customer and security services to the Parliamentary Precincts, and to Members of Parliament and staff working in our communities, and in Electorate and Community Offices across New Zealand.

We welcome hundreds of visitors every day and you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and secure operation of security screening, while providing exceptional customer service to our visitors.

You will be well known for excellent communication skills and have the resilience and ability to adapt to different situations and scenarios - no two days are ever the same in this environment

This is a physically active role that is suited to someone with sound judgement and a well-balanced approach as you will be responding to incidents, emergency situations, protests and events.

  • The appointing base salary for this role is $61,679 per annum (remuneration band extends beyond the appointing salary to account for tenure progression)

  • Able to meet specialised training standards which includes a physical capability test to carry out the requirements of the role

To be considered for this position you must be a New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident and able to obtain and maintain a NZ Government National Security clearance at SECRET level.
