Support Worker - Palmerston North - managing challenging behaviours - FULL TIME

We are looking for enthusiastic and resilient individuals to join our IDEA Support Worker team in Palmerston North. You will work alongside people with intellectual disabilities and support them through their life's journey.

There are TWO roles available. One is based in Aokautere. The other is based in Awapuni. Both roles are full time.

In each case you will be one of two caregivers for a person we support who exhibits challenging behaviours. We provide a 24/7 supervised service for them.

We require the service to be flexible and responsive to the changing needs of the person as they are supported.

You will be enabling this person to lead a safe and meaningful life in the community. A standard day may include showering, administering medication, and dealing with challenging behaviour, but the rewards are amazing. Every day is different, you need to have an engaging flexible approach with the right attitude.

What will you bring?

  • Ideally experience in managing challenging behaviours, or at least an interest in this field

  • The willingness to learn
  • Ideally, some experience in the disability sector but not absolutely necessary as full training and orientation will be provided
