Escape the big smoke, move to a lovely central city with a decent, but not hectic, pace of life and join the pharmacy team at Waikato Hospital, one of the largest tertiary teaching hospitals in New Zealand.

Your role, as part of the pharmacy leadership team, will allow growth and development of your clinical and leadership skills whilst you enhance the development of clinical services provided by our team of pharmacists and technicians, within an innovative and ever-changing environment.


All of this whilst living in a beautiful city with reasonable house prices, manageable traffic, excellent schools, great shopping, that is also central to the mountains, beaches and excellent outdoor activities.

Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

This full time position based at Waikato Hospital will suit a NZ registered pharmacist with wide-ranging hospital experience, a post-graduate qualification in clinical pharmacy, and preferably some leadership experience.

Those with less experience or qualifications who have a desire and aptitude to move into leadership will also be considered.

To be successful, you must be a great team player with the right attitude In return you will receive support for your professional development, and enjoy working with a family-friendly, flexible team offering clinical pharmacy services to five hospitals within Te Whatu Ora Waikato.

Mō tātou Ratonga | About our Service

The practice of pharmacy includes the custody, preparation and dispensing of medicines and pharmaceutical products; the provision of advice on health and well-being, including health screening, and the selection and provision of non-prescription medicine therapies and therapeutic aids.

Mōu | About you

Essential experience and qualifications:

  • A relevant graduate and postgraduate qualification
  • Experience in implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action
  • Registration, with the Pharmacy Council of New Zealand; inclusive of pharmacist scope of practice.
  • A current practising certificate with the Pharmacy Council of New Zealand
  • Bachelor of Pharmacy degree (or equivalent) recognised in New Zealand.
Desirable

  • To hold a current NZ driver's license and a current first aid certificate.
  • Previous clinical pharmacy experience and/or postgraduate qualification
  • Professional and technical competence in evaluation, selection and utilisation of medical and pharmacy literature.
  • Project management skills
  • Proof of competency in aseptic compounding
