Mō te tūranga mahi | About the role
This role is part of a new Systems Change & Capability function within the Ministry.

We are focused on ensuring that work underway to implement our environmental policy and regulatory activity incorporates a multi-disciplinary approach drawing on behaviour change, systems thinking, design thinking, that we do this with te ao Māori designed in, and that we adopt a strongly user-centric approach.

You will proactively engage and consult across our implementation portfolio to offer a range of perspectives, incorporating our Ngā Mātāpono design principles approaches into our work at the outset, to enable the development of effective and impactful approaches for our projects and teams.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

  • Practical understanding of a broad range of BI tools, practices and approaches;
  • Extensive applied experience of using a variety of BI approaches, methods and models together with the ability to explain these to audiences who do not have understanding of BI or Behavioural Science for example using EAST, BASIC or COM-B as integral parts of project design;
  • A deep and credible understanding of behavioural science and direct experience of how it can be applied to help solve complex reallife policy problems.
  • A strong commitment to developing your cultural capability and capacity in te ao Māori and whakaaro Māori.
  • Other beneficial expertise would include behavioural economics, social/behavioural psychology, environmental psychology, design thinking and/or behaviourally oriented evaluation methods;
  • You are organised and have a track record of managing all execution details across multiple projects without dropping the ball. You jump easily from intent to detail and back again. You work transparently so everyone knows what's happening and when. You get things done.
Whānuitanga Utu ā-Tau | Salary range
Salary range for this role is $105,802 to $128,424 pa. Appointment within this range will be based on skills and experience.
