General Summary:

The New Zealand Product and Data Team are responsible for:

  • Managing the consumer and advertiser product experience for our ad supported digital video product ThreeNow.
  • End-to-end digital data collection, management and activation across commercial, marketing, content and product teams.
  • Delivering actionable and accessible insights about WBD NZ's products, content and consumers to enable data-lead decision making that drives profitable growth in audience and revenue.

Reporting to the Senior Director Product and Data, the Digital Product Manager role is responsible for supporting ThreeNow product strategy, roadmap and implementation and will also support other WBD digital products in market as required. Delivering to key stakeholders across content, commercial and marketing teams, the product manager will gather ideas, prioritise work, and define scope and user-experience, while also keeping on top of performance and learnings from in-market product improvements and features.

Role Summary:

In this challenging and diverse role, the Digital Product Manager will work primarily on our rapidly growing ad-supported video product ThreeNow to ensure delivery of outstanding experiences for both our audience and advertisers. Success is measured through audience and revenue growth, alongside other user-engagement KPIS.

On a day-to-day level the role works closely with the Digital Delivery team of business analysts, engineers, testers and vendors to play an active role in the collaborative effort of delivering new features and maintaining the product across a wide range of supported consumer devices.

Month-to-month, the emphasis may shift from improving the user experience or advertising offering, to championing the product to stakeholders, to building experiences for new platforms.The Product Manager needs to be technically-literate with an ability to contribute to technical decision making on video and advertising infrastructure.

The role demands diverse skills and areas of knowledge, so a successful candidate will be a generalist comfortable working with content, marketing, ad sales, design, technology, finance and more. They will have an eye on tomorrow and be informed about media and tech industry trends and competitor products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the creation and successful implementation of Digital Product Strategy for WBD ANZ Networks, delivering to broader business strategy and goals
  • Be the owner of user experience to ensure ThreeNow and any other products are seen as market leading
  • Collaborate with key internal stakeholders to ensure product development and BAU activity meets core business needs.
  • Own roadmap/backlog maintenance and prioritisation to manage product improvements and feature requests from across the business.
  • Work with the Digital Delivery team to deliver the product roadmap, ensuring effort and resource is aligned to highest impact outcomes and focuses on optimum viewer experience. This includes management of defects and issues.
  • Lead the delivery of clearly defined scope, use-cases and requirements for new products or features.
  • Work with Senior Director, Product and Data to identify opportunities for market growth in audiences and revenue and provide global trends and analysis to leadership and relevant teams
  • Support the development and maintenance of strong relationships with key vendors and clarity on their roadmaps. This may include supporting contract negotiations and new services.
  • Support regional and global teams to provide requirements and manage implementation of other WBD digital products.
  • The Company may, after fair and reasonable consultation, change your duties, from time to time, for commercial reasons but not so as to substantially change the nature of the position.

Requirements/Skills:

  • A proven track record in delivering sustainable new digital products/features and ensuring delivery of their intended business benefits.
  • Generalist – Needs to understand and be comfortable working across technology, content, marketing, design, business, consumers, advertisers.
  • A passion for good UX and high-quality digital user interfaces.
  • Technology literate.
  • Digitally inquisitive - Likes to assess the latest global products. Can critique the ways different publishers present their content and services.
  • Empathetic - Can represent points of view that are not their own.
  • Proven stakeholder management and an excellent communicator.
  • Self-directing multitasker.
  • Data literate to analyse product performance, audience preferences and trends
  • Energetic and positive.
  • Commercially-savvy with knowledge of digital media business models.
  • Process-driven.
  • Broadcast and/or media company experience preferred.
