This role will see you join our high performing and passionate Facilities and Asset Management Team (FAM) who work to ensure the upkeep and longevity of parliamentary grounds and buildings. The team actively provides a seamless, customer-centric, one-stop facilities and property service for building and accommodation matters for Parliamentary Service across the Parliamentary Precinct.

Mō te tūnga | About the role:

As one of our Facilities Technical Leads, you'll play a pivotal role overseeing the contractors coming onto our Parliamentary precinct to ensure that our facilities are safe, accessible, and enjoyable for all who use them. We have five key contracting groups which includes mechanical & electrical, landscaping, vertical transport, fire protection and cleaning. Most buildings on the precinct are Crown heritage buildings and therefore work needs to comply with heritage requirements where applicable.

You'll be tasked with taking the lead on a diverse range of facility tasks essential to keep our building services running and these including managing access to our grounds, reviewing health and safety site plans, handling permits, the on-call roster and ensuring that works completed to the highest standards. You'll have the opportunity to work both in the office and out and about as you complete your work. You can expect that no two days are the same, you'll be continuously learning, and every day is exciting and unpredictable.

These are highly dynamic and engaging roles where you'll be regularly engaging with our contractors, buildings team and internal stakeholders to keep them in the loop with progress and ensuring that work is completed on time.

  • Previous experience in facilities, property, or related role.
  • Contractor management experience within a commercial, industrial, or retail building environment advantageous.
  • An understanding of relevant legislation and regulation.
  • Strong customer service and service delivery skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Calm under pressure, adaptable and an ability to make a sound decision.
  • Proactive and highly motivated to ensure quality outcomes are achieved.

The appointing salary range for this role is $69,224 to $76,429 per annum plus on call rates. Appointments will be based on skills and experience (please note, the full salary range extends beyond this to allow for tenure progression).
