Te tūnga | The role

We are looking for an enthusiastic water quality scientist to join our Water Quality Team at our Christchurch Science Centre.

This is an exciting opportunity for a graduate to work in our water team solving real world problems using new techniques and knowledge.

We work across the water spectrum, with councils, community, and iwi to use science to better understand and mitigate contamination of our groundwater, surface water, oceans and drinking water.

Kia angitu koe | About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification or experience in microbiology and/or molecular biology.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • The willingness to undertake some travel for field work and community engagement.
  • Passion for improving water quality.
  • A commitment to Te Titiri o Waitangi and in helping New Zealand implement Te Mana o Wai. Being comfortable in Te Ao Māori and a willingness to develop your Te Reo skills would be an advantage.
