We are currently seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Clinical Scientist to join our team. As a Clinical Scientist with the delegation from the Medical Director or Clinical Director, you will be responsible for providing clinical expertise in relevant areas and playing a crucial role in facilitating the diagnosis, treatment, monitoring, and understanding of diseases in individual patients and groups of patients.

**Responsibilities include**:

- **Manaakitanga and Whanaungatanga**: Demonstrate respect, kinship, generosity, and care for the people we work with, the individuals we serve, their whānau, and communities. Show respect and care for their information and stories.
- ** Clinical Liaison**: Provide clinical guidance, scientific advice, and assistance to clinical service users on the selection, performance, and interpretation of tests. Your expertise will contribute to the overall understanding of diseases and their management.
- ** Quality Assurance**: Oversee a safe and effective service using relevant quality assurance and audit tools, ensuring compliance with national standards.
- ** Point of Call**: Act as an escalation point of call for clinicians within your scope of delegation, providing valuable support and expertise.
- ** Strategic Direction**: Provide input and leadership towards innovative and strategic direction within the laboratory, fostering a culture of excellence and advancement.
- ** Education and Training**: Participate in teaching and presentations to scientists, technicians, specialist registrars, and other visitors within the limits of your experience, sharing your knowledge and expertise.
- ** Management**: Support managerial responsibilities related to staff and resources, ensuring efficient operations and effective utilization of available assets.
- ** Kaitiakitanga**: Act as a guardian, collaborating with the wider CHL community to continuously develop ways to decrease waste that can have an adverse effect on the environment.

**Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience**
- Registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand (MSCNZ) as a Medical Laboratory Scientist.
- Minimum Part 1 FFSc (RCPA), FRCPath, or equivalent qualification.
- At least 5 years of experience in an appropriate diagnostic laboratory.
- Evidence of ongoing professional and personal development in your area of specialty.
- Demonstrated clinical liaison experience and proficiency in writing complex clinical reports.
- Result evaluation and interpretation experience, with troubleshooting skills involving instrumentation, software, and tests.
- Teaching and training experience, with the ability to develop new methodologies and design new tests.
- Experience in dealing with telephone inquiries in an informed and professional manner.
- Part 2 FFSc (RCPA) or FRCPath qualification (Desirable).
- A commitment to biculturalism and achieving equitable outcomes for Māori.
