This company is a NZ success story and has been at the forefront of forestry investment industry for several decades. The business has grown substantially over the years which has necessitated the need to recruit to appoint a Commercial Manager in Auckland. You will work very closely with clients, present investment proposals, understand clients' assets and provide accurate reporting to investors. In addition you will be involved in all facets of the investment lifecycle which will involve working with contractors and the operational team within the business who are responsible for subdivisions, project management and property development.

The core purpose of this role is to support the Directors so they can focus on strategic aspects of the business while you will be a proactive communicator who can customize your approach to each individual client. The ability to actively cultivate and manage a network of investors, undertake investment due diligence as well as present and autonomously host investors across their particular forestry investment property is integral to the success of this position.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop strong relationships with investors
  • Liaise effectively and credibly with HNW/UHNW and institutional clients
  • Understand the investment process and take ownership of issues, demonstrate your initiative and work autonomously as well as have strong attention to detail
  • Investor communication including investor reporting and presentations
  • Development and maintain collateral including presentations
  • Participate in ad hoc projects and proactively take work off Directors to free up their time
  • Team player who actively engages with all people within the business developing strong internal relationships
Your expertise, attributes and approach:
  • A minimum of 10 years of client relationship management, possibly with the CFS L5 (investment strand) gained from banking, financial services or wealth management or you may have a background in property development or the agriculture/forestry investment sector
  • With an understanding of the big picture and wider global economy, you are an articulate, informed and persuasive communicator to sophisticated clients
  • You can articulate the philosophy and process behind the firm's investment decision making, including risk/return characteristics
  • You are very personable, resilient and appropriately persistent with the ability to work independently
  • Professional and comfortable reporting and presenting at a senior level
  • Not afraid to roll up your sleeves and adopt a hands on approach as you will be working closely with the development and project management team in the business
  • You may not have a background in the forestry sector however you will need a good mix of commercial and investment expertise as well as the ability to forge enduring relationships with investors.
