Waikato Regional Council is looking for a new Creditors Officer to be part of a two-person team that delivers the accounts payable function for the organisation.

The Finance Directorate supports Waikato Regional Council's mission by managing and delivering on the councils varied financial requirements with this role being essential to the organisation, helping ensure the effective management of the payment cycle:
maintaining supplier accounts, processing of invoices and creation of payment runs.

The main functions of the creditors officer are:

  • _Matching invoices and receipts _
- _Updating supplier master data _
- _Creating Payment runs _
- _Responding to supplier and internal queries _
- _Processing staff expenses- **

Waikato Regional Council is looking for someone who has the following skills necessary for the role:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • written and verbal
  • Good processing skills
  • Great problemsolving ability
  • Proven success at building relationships and resolving issues with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience with business processes

Mō ngā pūkenga | Qualifications and experience


To be successful in this role, you will have at least 2 years' experience in accounts within an office environment as well as business support / administration experience.

You will have good attention to detail, strong skills in data processing and have good problem-solving skills.


Excellent planning/organisational skills and the ability to communicate and get along with a wide range of people are also essential.

You will work closely with the other creditors officer ensuring tasks are prioritised and allocated accordingly.


You will also be interacting with the wider financial accounting team ensuring service to the organisation is timely and efficient.
