Ara Poutama Aotearoa (Corrections) Health Services lead the delivery of patient-focused primary health care services to tangata within corrections facilities across Aotearoa.

Mō te tūnga | About the role

Working within a multi-disciplinary team, your role as Clinical Nurse Specialist is to provide a comprehensive range of specialist and individualised mental health nursing services to the tāne in our care and management.

Effective clinical caseload management will include triage, assessment and evidence informed treatments that are aligned to, and integrated with primary health and tertiary mental health provision, as well as overall promoting the delivery of holistic and recovery-oriented health services across the wider prison environment.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

  • Registered Nurse who holds a current Nursing Council of NZ Annual Practising Certificate;
  • Specialist mental health nursing experience in a primary/community, secondary or tertiary setting;
  • Demonstrable relevant experience including working with people presenting with acute and complex mental health and/or addictions issues;
  • A proven understanding of the professional, ethical and legislative requirements of providing mental health service care and treatment within a prison context;
  • Postgrad qualification in mental health or working towards, or equivalent learning (desirable).
The salary range for this role starts from $88,625 up to $98,306 based on demonstrable skills and experience.
