Mō te tūnga | About the roleThe purpose of this role is to receive, record and undertake an initial assessment on feedback and complaints that are received by Oranga Tamarik and provide mentoring and support to the intake advisors.
This role is central to ensuing feedback providers feel heard and receive an initial response in a timely manner.This role is the face of Feedback in Oranga Tamariki, and is responsible for the initial contact with the majority of feedback providers.
The role is focused on communicating with feedback providers, which includes both incoming and outgoing calls, to establish the feedback scope, undertake an initial assessment and direct this feedback to the relevant part of Oranga Tamariki for resolution.
As a Senior advisor, you will also take on enabling functions of the Feedback Operating Model such as reporting, quality assurance and the provision of advice regarding the feedback mechanisms.
This role also operates in a complex political environment and involves high profile stakeholder management and influencing to a senior level.
Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bringKey requirements of the role include:
- A relevant tertiary qualification is required or relevant equivalent experience.
- Proven successful experience in working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds, in particular Māori and Pacific Peoples.
- Sound knowledge of Oranga Tamariki Act 1989, the Vulnerable Children's Act 2014 and other relevant legislation.
- Thorough working knowledge of the machinery of government including issues management and processes.
- An understanding of the governance arrangements and public sector context within which Oranga Tamariki works and applies it to judgement and decision making.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to demonstrate empathy and deescalation methods when faced with conflict and aggressive people.
- Effective problemsolving skills, with the ability to analyse and respond appropriately to complex and difficult situations.
- Understanding and appreciation of crosscultural practices in particular; knowledge of tikanga Māori, and Pacific peoples' culture
