Exciting opportunity for an experienced criminal lawyer with recent Duty Lawyer experience and exceptional people leader skills. This is an 8 month fixed term, part time position - 32 hours per week.


As a Duty Lawyer supervisor, you will report to the Senior Duty Lawyer Supervisor, Northern and work closely with the Deputy Senior Duty Lawyer Supervisor.


You will be responsible for:

  • Leading the duty lawyer service at court on your rostered days
  • Contribute to new initiative and improvements to the service
  • Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with all stakeholders.

To be successful in this role you must be passionate about criminal justice issues and:

  • be qualified to practise law in New Zealand
- have Provider Approval Level 1 or above, as well as Duty Lawyer Approval.
- have proven credibility with Judges, peers and others in the legal community
- be comfortable as part of a team who support and rely on one-another
- enjoy sharing legal expertise and exchanging ideas
- have empathy and the ability to relate to a wide range of people.

This is a satisfying role which our Duty Lawyer Supervisors enjoy undertaking.

Utu ā-tau/Salary
The appointing salary for this role will be between $128,614 and $179,876, depending on skills and experience.
