Manager Migration Settlement (Youth Work Lead)

Fulltime - Based at any Settlement Location


We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Manager who has either lived experience as a former refugee or has worked in the settlement sector and has significant experience as a youth worker or has lead youth workers.


The Manager Migration Settlement (Youth Work Lead) provide leadership to Pathways to Settlement (P2S) teams (2 -3 locations), ensuring they have clear direction and deliver against plans and targets.

The position is a member of the National Migration Team and contributes to development and delivery of the Group's strategic plans.

The position also provides national leadership, coordination and support to regional Settlement Youth Workers and their line managers. The position will also offer individual and peer group supervision opportunities to the Youth Workers and their line managers

In this role, we are looking for someone who has the following:

  • Leading and managing the Pathways to Settlement teams to deliver their functions and responsibilities effectively and efficiently; and contribute to New Zealand Red Cross.
  • Managing, coaching, and developing staff to build a high performing team and skilled individuals.
  • Providing the Director Migration Settlement and other senior leaders with appropriate reports and advice in areas relating to the functions of P2S
  • Contributing to strategic direction setting, financial sustainability and performance monitoring of the Migration Group against its strategy and operational goals.
  • Leading high performing P2S teams through coaching, mentoring, and setting a clear direction
  • Ensuring that each P2S location's budget is appropriately managed within defined parameters and ensuring efficient and effective use of financial resources.
  • Ensuring that each P2S location has the right structure, systems and processes, resources, and tools as well as financial, human, technical and service delivery capabilities to perform its range of functions to a high standard.
  • Establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with refugee background youth communities and organisation
  • Experience working with former refugees or have lived experience as a refugee.
  • A sound understanding of the refugee settlement process.
  • A good understanding of youth work with refugee background communities and experience working with former refugee youth and their families.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification, or equivalent relevant experience.
