Employer Liaison - Wellington (Lower Hutt)

As part of the largest humanitarian aid organisation in the world, New Zealand Red Cross plays a vital role in providing assistance to vulnerable people in New Zealand and overseas.

We have an exciting fixed term opportunity for an Employer Liaison in our Refugee Pathways to Employment programme.

The goal of the Pathways to Employment service is to assist refugee background individuals to find meaningful and sustainable employment and to be economically independent.


The purpose of the Employer Liaison role is to grow the pool of employment opportunities for former refugees in the Wellington region, specifically the Hutt Valley.

The role also includes intensive, individualised work with both refugee background clients and potential employers, supporting clients to gain employment.

The Employer Liaison works closely with other team members to achieve the best outcome for the client.

They assist in preparation for job searching and engagement in the New Zealand workforce appropriate to client's previous experience and skills.

Ultimately the goal is to facilitate successful sustainable and meaningful employment.


The Employer Liaison support continues into employment and offers support and guidance for the client and the employer for an initial period.


  • Understanding of the refugee journey and common issues faced during the resettlement process.
  • Awareness of New Zealand employer priorities and familiarity with employment organisations and networks in the Wellington
  • Hutt Valley region.
  • Proven skills in career development and the ability to engage with clients collaboratively.
  • Appreciation of the benefits of diversity in workplaces.
  • Proven skills in recognizing and developing work readiness.
  • Ability to build client confidence and job search skills.
  • Qualifications required:_
