Working within a multidisciplinary environment, this key, non-clinical role will have regional responsibility for facilitating the effective care of serving NZDF personnel where the service person has complex health needs.

Complex care encompasses those situations where the non-clinical demands of case management exceed the resources of the primary care team to provide and is inclusive of both physical and psychological illness or injury.

The Complex Care Coordinator is responsible for maintaining effective communication between all stakeholders involved in the care of the service person with complex needs, while ensuring the needs of the patient remain the central focus throughout.

Along with at least 5 years' experience in a customer based supported environment you will demonstrate the following:

  • Experience in a health environment with an understanding of privacy and medical in confidence.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
  • A high level of self
- motivation, able to work autonomously and manage any issues as they arise.

  • Well organised and experienced in coordinating people and resources effectively.
  • Flexible and adaptable to the changing needs and requirements of clients.
  • Proactively able to manage networks and act as a link between relevant internal and external health services to support the requirements of an individualised plan.
  • Ability to support the clinical team in identifying any gaps in the continuity of care for an individual.


Travel to support other NZDF sites within the Southern or Wellington regions will be required as part of these roles.

The minimum citizenship and residency criteria for security clearances to be granted by the NZ Defence Force are as follows:

Low level Security Clearance
- most preferably a NZ citizen, who has resided in this country continuously for at least the last five years, OR
- is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last five years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, the United Kingdom (UK) or the United States of America (USA); and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at this level.
