We are a team of highly skilled professional staff who are part of the Academic Division, and are responsible for delivering an outstanding student and staff experience through high quality, effective service delivery to all of the University's internal and external customers.

Our specific focus is on the student experience felt by our students here at the University of Otago.

We work to provide accurate and timely information, assistance, and advice across a range of activities from admission to graduation.


_The role/Te mahi_


As a Coordinator Student Experience, you will be working as part of a team, providing high quality advice and support for postgraduate students at University of Otago, Christchurch ensuring they go on to have an outstanding University of Otago experience.


In this role you will be the key point of contact and support for our Christchurch based PhD students, postgraduate students undertaking research degrees, and students undertaking programme based postgraduate study.


This position also provides advice and support relating to eligibility for study, scholarships and other regulatory and administrative processes and liaises closely with the University's doctoral office.


Key tasks of this role include:

  • Being a key point of contact for postgraduate students and staff at University of Otago, Christchurch, including advisory, induction and assessment/examination coordination.
  • Coordinating and facilitating the provision of programme and course information and guidance.
  • Working closely with teams across Student Experience, Academic Division, Academic staff, Client Services and the wider university to provide early stage targeted advice and assistance to a variety of students.
  • Provide students with referral and coordination services to the wider support services network.

  • Previous advisory experience.
  • A passion for customer service and delivering exceptional service to students and staff.
  • Experience providing student administration or related services in a tertiary education organisation.
  • Exposure to work in a busy or complex environment.
  • A clear understanding of pastoral care and extracurricular services offered.
  • Strong Microsoft office and PC skills (eVision a plus).

This is a permanent, full-time role based on our Christchurch campus.
