The role and opportunity

  • The NZAGRC helps Aotearoa New Zealand meet its greenhouse gas emissions targets and contribute to managing climate change. We aim to discover, develop, and make available practical and costeffective technologies and practices for New Zealand farmers and growers to reduce agricultural greenhouse gas emissions. We are a core component of the new Centre for Climate Action on Agricultural Emissions and work with government, the agriindustry, farmers, and Māori communities.
  • To achieve our goal, we invest in and coordinate research that is undertaken collaboratively and responds to Aotearoa New Zealand's unique farm systems and environments. We also invest in and manage overseas projects within New Zealand's aid and global partnerships.
  • In expanding its investment, the New Zealand Government has committed $338m over the next four years through Budget 2022 from the Climate Emergency Response Fund (CERF) to progress the actions in the Agriculture Chapter of the Aotearoa New Zealand's Emissions Reduction Plan. Industry is also contributing significantly. This means that the Government's expectations of the NZAGRC are increasing, and we will need to play a bigger role than we were originally set up for with a focus on outcomes.
  • We have an exciting opportunity for a Communications and Marketing Advisor to join our team on a fixed term for 4months to support us with preparation for Field days, including working with our site partners to build a cohesive story with appropriate activations, aligning appropriate campaigns to the event, as well as reviewing our content platforms and building up their presence.

What you will be doing

  • Your skills and experience will be invaluable in ensuring that our story and the science that we do, is communicated to various audiences in a way that adds value to how the information is received and retained.

Your ideal background

  • Degree qualified in Graphic Design (or related), or equivalent experience, or a degree in Communications or Marketing.
  • 5+ years in marketing/communications environment including experience in developing, implementing, and/or supporting storytelling in a science or other specialised sector.
  • Experience with event management.
  • Experience with website development including content management (Silverstripe knowledge would be an advantage..
