The Opportunity
We have a vacancy for an occupational therapy assistant to join the Occupational Therapy Department in Palmerston North for a fixed term position.
This is a great opportunity to experience working in the hospital environment.
This person will be required to work under the direction of registered Occupational Therapists providing clinical support and assistance to the Occupational Therapy team when required.
The tasks of this position are many and varied and include undertaking occupational therapy interventions with clients under direction of an Occupational Therapist in our rehabilitation service and community.
Experience as an allied health assistant, knowledge of occupational therapy and adaptive equipment would be an advantage.The successful applicant will be:
Someone who has effective oral and interpersonal communication skills, is able to work under pressure and direction, and enjoys meeting the challenges of a varied workload.
You will need to aware of principles around person centred practice, be sensitive to cultural differences and committed to the Treaty of Waitangi.
A current NZ drivers' licence is essential.This is a full-time position working up to 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Applicants for part time hours may be considered.
