About the role


This role is to support the delivery of the high amenity garden activity by performing a variety of general maintenance planting, gardening, improvement and cleaning activities of a manual labouring nature.


Reporting to the Open Space and Amenity Leader your role will be field based, across various garden sites, working in the greater team of five people.


You'll recognise the importance of the role as a Treaty partner and understand how that underpins Gisborne District Council's work.


Duties Include:

  • Carrying out garden maintenance as directed by the Amenity and Horticulture Supervisor, including weeding, and weed control,
  • Planting and plant husbandry tasks including trimming, pruning, and plant health measures
  • Traffic management

Skills & experience

  • Have an understanding of Health and Safety responsibilities and practices


Ideally you will be physically fit and able and be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including working on the road corridor.
