Āu Mahi | What You Will Do

We have an exciting opportunity for a Student Innovation Lead to guide and increase the entrepreneurial mindset, capability and impact of UC students.

You will help students turn ideas into concepts ready to be developed into sustainable, viable ventures which make impact (socially, culturally, environmentally and/or commercially).


As part of a wider team who manage multiple programmes you will be required to support the overall purpose of UCE and provide backup and support for other team members.

You will primarily focus on UCE's student-focused acceleration and incubation services, including:

  • designing and delivering early-stage, innovation and entrepreneurship programmes
- establishing and building networks between students and UC Clubs, academic staff, other UC faculties and external organisations including entrepreneurs and innovators
- supporting and delivering into other UCE programmes. Programme Leads may be required to swap focus areas as the requirements of UCE evolve or in respond to tactical requirements.

Mōu | Who You Are
- ideally experience with mentoring or coaching students, businesses or founders
- experience in starting up your own business or of in-depth assistance/advice for other new business ventures
- experience managing projects
- an understanding of concepts from a wide range of commercial, technological, environmental, cultural and scientific domains
- experience working with a wide range of stakeholders from commercial, tertiary and research environments
- skills developing and managing external partnerships
- excellent intrapersonal skills working cohesively and collaboratively within a team
- skills in various social media tools including Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn, an advantage
- have an active commitment to upholding the values, tikanga (protocols and processes), kawa (rules) of cultural practice and traditions as guided by mana whenua, Ngāi Tūāhuriri, and valuing te reo Māori.
