The Property and Procurement team provides property and procurement lifecycle management from inception, project management, delivery and planning and analytics.

We are responsible for providing advice and support to ensure that Customs can demonstrate compliance with Government procurement and property policies, rules and guidelines.

The Procurement & Contracts Advisor will be responsible for negotiating, or assisting in negotiating, low/medium level complexity contracts, managing and processing service level agreements, creating regular reports and providing support for the wider Property & Procurement team and Commercial Managers.

The Advisor will also be responsible for providing internal support and guidance related to the use of the procurement function in Ahumoni (our finance system).


Requirements of the role:

  • Must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand.
  • Government sector procurement is essential and/or a tertiary qualification in a related field. CIPS qualification or working towards obtaining MCIPS is desirable.
  • Practical knowledge and awareness of the Government Procurement Rules and the Principles of Procurement, or the ability to develop this knowledge quickly.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to target communication to meet the needs of the audience, plus an ability to present well thought out reports and contractual documents.
  • Ability to identify issues that need to be investigated further and to recognise when information appears to be incorrect.
  • Selfmotivated with a high degree of initiative with knowledge and practical experience in the provision of business advice to stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook.
