The Opportunity We are looking for a Chief Estimator to lead the Major Projects Win Work estimating team.

The position involves leading and advising internal and external JV estimating teams; working as part of the bid leadership team to secure new work; and work with other leaders in FH, our partners, and your team to identify and deliver continuous improvements to our business and processes.

What you will be doing Securing new work Work with the Fulton Hogan Civil and Regional business units, and our design and construction consortium members, to agree the Estimating strategy, approach and resourcing for each bid or negotiation (project)

Provide Win Work Estimating resource as required Establish, and maintain the integrity of, the estimating system configuration; process, and protocols for each project Lead and/or participate in price reconciliations and negotiations Provide estimating support for project teams, in the early stage of project delivery, to manage risks associated with key bid decisions Leadership of the Estimating team Establish, communicate and deliver the Win Work Estimating strategy Leadership and development of the team, including objective setting, performance review and feedback Planning and allocating Estimating resources for the pipeline of bids and negotiated work Continual improvement of the Estimating function Contributing to the leadership of the Win Work team Maintain industry relationships and market knowledge to provide insight for the Win Work team and wider Fulton Hogan Work with other leaders in the Win Work team, and FH stakeholders, to:

establish, communicate and deliver our business plans- maintain high levels of engagement across the Win Work team What you'll bring to the table Appropriate tertiary engineering or quantity surveying qualification 10 years' experience in a senior civil estimating role working on multidisciplinary highway and water projects $100 M in value or forming and leading teams of estimators from different companies for projects, who may employ different approaches in their home organisations Expert in the use, and guiding others in the use of, CCS Candy software Sound commercial understanding in relation to estimating; familiar with forms of contract commonly encountered in New Zealand Outstanding negotiating skills Knowledge of construction approaches, suppliers and subcontractors in the New Zealand market Excellent communication skills Leadership experienced manager, able to coach and mentor others.
