The Public Health Agency (PHA) leads all public health and population health policy, strategy, regulatory, intelligence, surveillance, and monitoring The Public Health Agency works to improve Pacific Health outcomes by providing strategic advice and guidance on Pacific health improvement.

The team achieve this by monitoring system performance and working in a collaborative and integrated way across the Manatu Hauora, the Pacific health sector, Pacific communities and key Government partners.

Ko tōu ake mahi - What You'll Do

You will be responsible for the provision of high quality advice and analysis to support the design and implementation of strategy, policies and programmes in Pacific Health.

This is a pivotal role in supporting the Pacific Health Team drive equitable health outcomes for Pacific populations in New Zealand.

To be successful, you will have experience in facilitating health sector collaboration to collectively determine the priorities for programmes of work, and experience in developing and maintaining effective professional relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

  • A thorough understanding of public policy and the machinery of government, with a demonstrated knowledge of political administrative processes and structures
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills including the ability to communicate clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles
  • Pacific health expertise and experience to inform future decision making for work programmes that best support a focus of addressing inequities within the Ministry's priorities and objectives
  • A wide/sector view to encourage broad thinking and engagement across governmnet agencies, key stakeholders and alignment of key work programmes
  • Ability to build collaborative and positive relationships across the Directorate, Ministry, the wider health sector, government and other external stakeholders
