At Manatū Hauora - Ministry of Health we are the kaitiaki of the health system, providing leadership and driving strategy and performance. We regulate the health sector and are the primary source of advice on health matters.
The Strategy Group is part of Te Pou Rautaki (Strategy, Policy and Legislation directorate) of Manatū Hauora. The Strategy Group works on a range of instruments that set the medium to longer-term vision, overall direction, aims and objectives for the health and wellbeing of the people in New Zealand, the health sector and the areas of need within it. It sets high-level parameters for how the direction is achieved through long-term investment priorities and system levers and guides collective action towards the vision.
We are looking for a Senior Policy Analyst to join the Investment and Funding Strategy team within the Strategy Group. We lead advice on health system investment priorities, with a focus on value for money and delivering equitable health outcomes.
Ko ake mahi - What you'll do
As a Senior Policy Analyst in the Investment and Funding Strategy team within the Strategy Group, you will have the opportunity to lead the development of policy and strategy advice on funding and investment in the health system. This includes supporting the Budget process for Vote Health by providing overall advice on investment priorities and co-ordinating initiatives.
You will develop and maintain relationships with colleagues in the health entities, across Manatū Hauora and wider government agencies. You will also support your colleagues in the Strategy Group and the wider directorate by reviewing and providing coaching and analytical support.
Ko pūkenga - What you'll bring
You will bring strong policy, or policy adjacent, skills with experience in public finance.
Strong skills in communicating effectively and strategically for Ministers and decision-makers
Ability to break down complex problems, designing elegant and innovative policy solutions
Ability to work collaboratively with policy, strategy and sector experts, as well as wider communities
Experience working with Māori and within te ao Māori paradigms to reflect Te Tiriti o Waitangi in your policy and strategy work
It would be useful for you to bring numerical and financial literacy, experience in the health sector and/or in economics.
