Entain Australia and New Zealand is seeking an Outside Broadcast Operator to join our Hamilton team.

You'll be joining a strong and diverse group of talent, composed of long standing team members with ample opportunity to learn from their success.


You will contribute to the delivery of quality outside broadcast for race days and associated productions for television and online viewing.

Your overall goal is to enhance the customer's experience while embodying and demonstrating Entain's core values.

Our Outside Broadcast Operators tend to work their way through various broadcasting roles, including camera, sound, vision control/colour correction, VT and directing.

With plenty of career pathways at Entain, you could see yourself channeling Production, Engineering, and many more core business functions in the long term.

This is an exciting role based out in the field, where it all happens Your day could start with meeting at the office, travelling to the racecourse with the team, setting up and conducting checks, and then participating in race day.

This is a permanent part time position based in Hamilton.

The ability to work Wednesdays and Saturdays is essential, along with flexibility across the week in line with rosters, including some public holidays and nights.


Your day-to-day...

  • Work effectively with team members to pack and move equipment to and from the race track for events.
  • Assemble, prepare, set up, and test cameras and other equipment. Ensure communications are set up correctly.
  • Work collaboratively and cooperatively with other OB team members to ensure a seamless quality image is broadcast.
  • Provide communication between the outside broadcast truck or Fixed Control room, enabling commentator audio for programming to take place.
  • Report any issues to the Director and/or technical staff in a timely manner and assist technical staff with resolving issues.
  • Perform basic maintenance checks on equipment at the conclusion of a race day and escalate any equipment issues to the technical team.
  • Conduct yourself with the customer as they key priority, consistently demonstrating ENTAIN values at work.

You're a match if you ideally have...

  • Relevant work experience in a Camera Operator role, and/or a racing/broadcasting background, would be desirable.
  • Educational qualifications, including a relevant Tertiary qualification, would be advantageous.
  • Sound understanding of cameras and their most effective means of use, or the desire to learn and develop your skills.
  • Excellent people skills, a team player attitude, and the ability to take direction well is essential.
  • A sharp and observant mindset, with the capability to concentrate and remain switched on for long periods.
  • Good stamina and physical fitness is essential, including the ability to lift heavy equipment on foot over long distances.
  • Full car license is essential. Class 2 (heavy traffic license to drive trucks) would be desirable.
