Tu Ora Compass Health is looking for a Communications Lead who can build on their communications, content creation, marketing and promotional knowledge and skills to increase awareness of our organisation's work across the health and wellbeing sector.


Tu Ora Compass Health; is the largest primary health organisation (PHO) in the Wellington region, incorporating Wellington City, Porirua, Kapiti and the Wairarapa.

Tu Ora Compass Health and its associated organisations exist to enable better health through great primary care.


We are a registered charitable trust, employing around 150 core team members, who provide primary health care and community health services to an enrolled population of around 315,000, mainly through a network of general practice and employed staff with offices in Masterton, Porirua and Wellington.

About the role


The purpose of the Communications Lead role is to Lead communications activities within Tu Ora in collaboration with our external communications advisor (who takes the lead) to manage external media enquiries.


The key functions of the Communications Lead are to:

  • Develop and implement a communication strategy
  • Design, create and deliver timely online content, campaigns and promotional material in collaboration with external Communications Advisor across the organisation;
  • Develop Tu Ora and other subbrand social media channels to promote specific health services, events and key health messages;
  • Provide advice to project leads on basic communications strategies/plans;
  • Basic graphic design content creation to aid marketing and promotional content for the organisation communication channels;
  • Maintain a library of stock of photographs for marketing and health promotion materials
  • Assist marketing and public relations projects alongside the Communications team
  • Be the champion for Tu Ora brand guideline.

About you

  • Relevant Communication, marketing qualification with design skills, or equivalent knowledge and skills
  • Professional written communication skills
  • Excellent listening, verbal and communication skills
  • Commitment to developing visually appealing promotional materials (on brand)
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently
  • Ability to work independently and meet competing deadlines
